MENDEZ MONUMENT SAVES FOR NEXT GENERATION

The existence of Philippine Presidential Decree Nos. 260 and 374 amending Republic Act No. 4846, the country's Cultural Properties Act brought classification of historic sites and structures categorized one of Tubod Local Monument. It is an objects, natural features or areas of special historic interest that sets aside by Tubod local government as public property. Historically, the site where Mr. Mendez statue installed on 1989 identified by previous Tubod Leaders prestigiously recognized by Late Municipal Mayor Alfredo Espina Macula spearheaded the motion of Former SB Member Sergio Acero Labadan living witness for Mendez historical statue bring pride of this town. 

Hence, the call for next generation protecting Tubod historic statue and monument is great. It incorporates in Tubod Cultural Treasure and Heritage. A thing with unique sites or objects found locally possessing outstanding cultural, artistic and/or scientific value that is highly significant and important to Tubod. We think so that one of the most valued monuments ever existed in Tubod is of MENDEZ being the sole donor of Tubod Municipal Lot. In supplication with this manuscript, Mendez full-bodied statue signify value and must be preserve. 

Mendez Monument is great landmark of Tubod. It is historic Local hero for his exemplary deed and contributions to the building of our town of Tubod. Great Mendez memorial gives inspiration for youn ones. He sacrificed his personal real property for establishing Tubod now materializes. Therefore, Mendez memorial monument must be treated sacred or hallowed objects and accorded with the same full reverence as we have for the Philippine Flag. Philippine Law shall not allow any form of desecration against monuments, such as squatting, graffiti and advertising commercialism.

 Moreover, the Constitution of the Philippines, Article IV on Arts and Culture, Section 16 states: All the country's artistic and historic wealth constitutes the cultural treasure of the nation and shall be under the protection of the State, which may regulate its disposition. However, Mr. Mendez memorial monument has its supporting SB Resolution series on 1989 makes up legitimate.

 Finally, the Philippine law says no monument/memorial to living persons shall be allowed. The statues of living persons may be produced and funded by private entities in the form of award for excellence and great achievements, or for hall of fame type recognition. However, such statues are not allowed to be erected or installed outdoors, which could be mistaken for a memorial.

DEED OF ABSOLUTE DONATION... This DEED OF ABSOLUTE DONATION, made and executed by AGUSTIN MENDEZ, of legal age, married, and a resident of Barangay Tubod, Mainit, Surigao, Philippines, herein after called the #DONOR, in favor of "THE BARRIO OF TUBOD" of Mainit, Surigao, herein after called #DONEE. That the DONOR is the real owner in fee simple of that parcel of land with buildings and improvementstherein situated in Tubod, Mainit, Surigao, Philippines covered Tax Declaration No. 1335. That for and in consideration of the LOVE and AFFECTION which the DONOR has for the DONEE. It is long vision of the family that Mendez role in Tubod making be given significance. Even a simple greeting and salutation for Mendez delights greater impact. The respect must be restored and have emphasis reminiscing history. Many years passed, Mendez left behind and unseen in Tubod history map. Today, our richness Tubod history is rebirth. This is the time.

In track of Mendez Families quest, all members continue praying for positive answer from the President favoring this humble entreaty. The retrospect of history in this town gives way how Mendez works hard for founding the town. A worth dignified drudgery of this man attained. A Wreath-laying Ceremony practice yearly by LGU of TUBOD on its Charter Day falls October 4 every year given tribute to Tubod Founding Hero AGUSTIN GANOT MENDEZ. The simple offering of flowers to Founding Hero marks greatness. And of course, this is one way of remembering Famous and Tuboranon Icon of our times. The mere wreath activity extended to founding monument signifies importance. It is an act of PATRIOTISM in LGU of TUBOD for MENDEZ heroic contribution establishing TUBOD town in general spectrum. That for without this man, there can be nowhere. So, the simple acknowledgment of MENDEZ heroism is a sign of RESPECT and VALUE of our dear Tuboranon Local Heroes. Soar high...TUBOD..!

The First Christian Settler, a compassionate donor, pioneer and colonizer of Tubod that spreads Christianity. He was an immigrant from Ubay, Bohol Province on 19th Century. The one who led timely in establishing Sitio Union Sanidad on 1900. Until then, he was the First Barrio Lieutenant of Barangay Tubod on 1908 in Surigao Del Norte, Northeastern Mindanao, Philippines.

After having been created into Municipality of Tubod on September 18, 1957 he was professed as Tubod Founding Hero of this Municipality for his eloquent heroic contribution donating One-Hectare Land for Municipal Building and Tubod Roman Catholic Church Lot for Settlement pushing this place into an independent town of the Province of Surigao del Norte. On religious undertaking, he donating Two (2) Partnered Patron Saints PETER and PAUL sculpted on 1900 in Ubay.

Today, he was remembered by Tuboranon as an Icon whose selfless vision is for the development of Tubod.

He is a Great Tuboranon Icon of our time.

SURIGAO holds 6th Mendez Clan Mindanao Wide Reunion 2017

 

The forthcoming 6th Mendez Clan Mindanao Wide Reunion 2017 will be participated by all Mendez descendants coming from different Provinces and Cities in Mindanao. A Mendez Reunion 2017 proposal decided next in MENDEZ SURIGAO DEL NORTE this coming April 21-22, 2017. First Day, on April 21, 2017 at 1:00pm the Arrival Time/ Registration of Participants from 9 years old and above amounting only to One Hundred Pesos Only (P100.00) with the Theme: “KADUGO KO, HIMAMATON KO” at (Venue) DOME, Placer, Surigao Del Norte). For the second day, April 22, 2017 the program proper and April 23, 2017 home sweet home. (Note: Bring MALONG outside Surigao Del Norte Provincial Delegates and foods add-on to the food prepared by the host province). For Davao and other Provincial Delegates proceed to Tubod proper while Socorro Delegates proceed to Placer proper (for the accommodation -KATULOGAN). One of its important concerns links Mendez bloodline in Mindanao. A history of Mendez publishes for this coming big day. It is call of duty to respond our Kapamilyang Mendez in Mindanao to host said event as an avenue of family bonding, fixing gaps adhesive to Mendez family.

Nevertheless, the cherish host team Surigao Mendez Clan Chapter initiates, coordinates and manages more fun activity for this event. More than a hundred or more people expected to bless the gathering. It’s much ado, series of activities be held during said momentous occasion ensuring enjoyment and fun moment of Mendez Clan.

For a while, Mendez Family Reunion in Mindanao happens once a year. It is tradition that every year must have gathering for all Mendezes in Mindanao simply exchanging good thoughts, opinions, insights, laughing and bonding moment flashing memories about short span of time. The excitement started when family members arrived at the hospitality room to sign in and receive name tags. Here, you can extend hi and hellos for your brethren in Mendez descendants.

One of cardinal rules about Mendez family is that excludes no one who is not related. But if they are MENDEZ in Mindanao automatically deem recognized unifying purpose. But some families have relatives who are not favorites, not good role models or tend to embarrass others. Let those people make their own decisions about attending; they will likely not come anyway, or perhaps they’ve changed. 

Most families “deal with” how they relate to one another from the nuclear to the extended family. If the nuclear family accepts significant others or people living together without benefit of marriage, why shouldn’t the extended family accept it? On the other hand, if some members are offended, a very specific decision may have to be made to exclude. But don’t expect the relative in that relationship to be eager to join the reunion. Our preference is to be as all-inclusive as you possibly can for several reasons. The principals will be happier and the family may well be enriched by these new members.

Welcoming new members in Mendez Clan Mindanao Wide bringing Mendez name included in core structure of Mendez Clan. No matter where you’re ancestor came from for as long as you bring Mendez name in Mindanao it really matter most.

Agustin “Usting” Mendez recognize as First Christian settler who discover woods. He is immigrant who came from Ubay, Bohol on 19th Century promote Tubod in Surigao del Norte map. The virgin place has no legitimate name. It is Mr. Mendez organize Cabeza de Barangay pushing sitio creation.

It is public knowledge of Tubod that, Mr. Agustin Mendez the First Leader and Originator called, “Barrio Lieutenant” initiate Barangay Tubod making on 1908. Historically, he is the First Christian dweller who named the woods “TUBOD”. The word “Tubod” comes from local dialect term, “Tuboran” which means source of water. Tubod is a Visayan word that has full of meaning.

Tuboranon Founding Hero AGUSTIN MENDEZ legacy founded Tubod and took several donations for Municipal and Roman Catholic Church Settlement. Eventually, as per Municipal Resolution on 1989 asserts Mr. Mendez the Greatest Tuboranon Local Hero of our time.
